Federal Electoral Boundaries

Back in 2004 the new Federal Electoral Boundaries were redefined. They now count 308 seats, as opposed to 301 previously. Durham, and specifically Pickering were affected by these changes.

Representation in the House of Commons is readjusted after each decennial (10-year) census to reflect changes and movements in Canada's population. The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commissions are the independent bodies that make all decisions regarding the proposed and final federal electoral boundaries for their respective provinces. Here is what was decided for Durham:
  • The Electoral District of AJAX–PICKERING is comprised of all of the Town of Ajax and the area in the City of Pickering that is north of Finch Avenue, east of Valley Farm Road, north of Highway No. 401 and east of Brock Road.
